Tuesday night before the start of game one of the WooSox vs the RailRiders, Red Sox Hall of Famer and Worcester Red Sox Chairman & Principal Owner Larry Lucchino and Polar Park Design Advisor Janet Marie Smith cut the ribbon to the new Gate A on Plymouth Street.
The new gate A entrance features a “pedestrian corridor” to the Summit Street sidewalk and to the Plymouth St. Playground.
The WooSox in a statement said that “Both the playground and the new grassy “Berms” will be dedicated subsequently this week.”
Also the WooSox say that “Later this season, many features of Summit Street will be dedicated, as will Fallon Square, which is the welcoming intersection of Plymouth Street and Summit Street.”
The WooSox also presented five new design elements of Polar Park which include more restrooms for men, women, and families, a playground for children, 120 seats for those with General Admission tickets, and the completion of a circumnavigation circuit around the ballpark.
