The City of Worcester held a media briefing on Monday afternoon to advice the media as to what the plans are for Worcester Police Officer Enmanuel Familia’s services.
Amy Peterson, the Communications Specialist for the City Manager says that calling hours for Officer Enmanuel Familia will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Peterson says that a funeral service for Officer Enmanuel Familia will be held on Thursday morning at 10 a.m., also at St. John’s Catholic Church.
On Thusday, there will be a procession that will take Officer Enmanuel Familia from Mercadante Funeral Home to St. John’s Church. That procession, Peterson says will go from Plantation Street to Belmont Street Belmont Street to Lincoln Square, from Lincoln Suare up Lincoln Street to Goldsberry Street and from Goldsberry to Summer Street.
On Summer Street the procession will come to a brief stop and Officer Enmanuel Familia will be moved from a hearse to a horse-drawn carriage.
The procession will then go down Summer Street to MLK Jr Boulevard, from Major Taylor Boulevard to Foster Street, from Foster Street to Front Street, from Front Street to Washington Square, from Washington Square to Grafton Street, from Grafton Street to Temple Street.
The procession will end on Temple Street at St. John’s Catholic Church where Officer Enmanuel Familia will be movedfrom the horse-drawn carriage and taken into the Church.
After funeral service at the church, Officer Enmanuel Familia will be taken to St. John’s Cemetery for a private burial.
There will be a procession from the church to St. John’s Cemetery and Peterson said that procession will go from Temple Street to Green Street, from Green Street to Kelley Square and down Madison Street to Southbridge Street and to Cambridge Street.
The procession will stop at St. John’s Cemetery and again, at the cemetery there will be a private burial.
Worcester Police said that on both Wednesday and on Thursday, traffic in the city will be impacted and also, parking in the city will be reduced.
The Police Department is asking that drivers in the city pay close attention to all posted signs and variable message boards on both Wednesday and Thursday.
The following are details of road closures during the wake of Officer Enmanuel Familia taking place on Wednesday, June 9th from 4-8 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church:
Temple Street closed from Harding Street to Green Street 1:00 PM – end of wake.
The following are details of temporary road closures for the Funeral of Officer Enmanuel Familia on Thursday, June 10th beginning at 8 a.m. until the conclusion of the services:
Plantation Street to Belmont Street (Route 9) (Briefly impacted between approximately 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.)
Belmont Street (Route 9) to Lincoln Square (Briefly impacted between approximately 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.)
Lincoln Street to Goldsberry Street (Briefly impacted between approximately 9 a.m.-10 a.m.)
Goldsberry Street to Summer Street (Full shutdown)
MLK Jr. Boulevard to Major Taylor Boulevard (Briefly impacted between approximately 9 a.m.-10 a.m.)
Major Taylor Boulevard to Foster Street (Briefly impacted between approximately 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.)
Foster Street to Front Street (Full shutdown)
Front Street to Washington Square (Full shutdown)
Washington Square to Grafton Street (Full shutdown)

The following streets will be briefly impacted from approximately 12:30 p.m. until the conclusion of the private funeral procession which will be traveling from St. John’s Catholic Church on Temple Street to St. John’s Cemetery on Cambridge Street:

Parking Restrictions:
There will be no parking on Temple Street beginning Wednesday at noon until Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
There will be no parking on Green Street on Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
