Merrimack, NH – A building fire Sunday night prompted a multi-town emergency response in Merrimack, with crews working quickly to contain the blaze and prevent significant damage.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. on March 29, 2026, fire units from the Merrimack Fire Department were dispatched to a reported chimney and structure fire at a home on Shore Drive, located in the Baboosic Lake area.
Due to the distance from the town’s central fire station, the first engine company arrived on scene about 11 minutes after dispatch. Officers with the Merrimack Police Department were first to arrive and reported visible smoke and sparks coming from the rear of the residence.
After assessing conditions, the incident commander upgraded the call to a working fire, prompting mutual aid assistance from neighboring departments in Bedford, Amherst, Nashua, and Londonderry.
Fire crews were able to quickly bring the flames under control, limiting damage primarily to the area of origin near the rear exterior wall of the home. The fire was declared under control at approximately 9:39 p.m., and all units cleared the scene by 10:44 p.m.
The home was occupied at the time of the incident, but no injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Merrimack Fire Marshal’s Office.
