Indianapolis hosts Denver in a Week 2 clash that promises a grind-it-out, trench-battle type of game. The Colts’ defense, aggressive and opportunistic under Lou Anarumo, forced three takeaways in their opener, and now they face a Broncos offense still figuring out Bo Nix. Nix struggled with accuracy and turnovers last week, and an Indy front seven led by DeForest Buckner could make life even tougher. Expect Sean Payton to lean more on the run with J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey, but the Colts’ stout defensive line and disciplined gap control may limit Denver’s ground attack.

On the other side, Daniel Jones gets his first real test of the season against a Broncos defense that’s no joke. Elite cornerback Pat Surtain II will likely shadow Michael Pittman Jr., forcing Jones to target Tyler Warren or the secondary receivers. Denver’s pass rush, spearheaded by Nik Bonitto, adds another layer of pressure. The Colts, however, can simplify the challenge with Jonathan Taylor, whose punishing running style can open up play-action opportunities if he dominates the trenches.

This one has “close, low-scoring divisional battle” written all over it. Turnovers and running game dominance will be the deciding factors. Both teams have strengths in the trenches, but the Colts’ ability to control the line of scrimmage on both sides gives them a slight edge.

Prediction: Colts 23, Broncos 17. Expect a hard-fought win for Indy at home, with Jonathan Taylor leading the charge and Lou Anarumo’s defense keeping Bo Nix in check.
