Candia, NH – The New Hampshire State Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash that occurred on Route 101 westbound on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
At approximately 10:20 a.m., State Police dispatch received reports of a tractor-trailer that had crossed into opposing lanes before coming to rest off the side of the road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the tractor-trailer, an International Harvester operated by David Young of Sandown, was traveling westbound when the driver moved to the left lane to avoid a tow truck in the right breakdown lane. A pickup truck, a Ram 2500 driven by Nicholas Picard of Berwick, Maine, towing a landscaping trailer, attempted to pass the tractor-trailer in the right lane. As the Ram approached the tow truck, it veered left and side-swiped the tractor-trailer, causing it to cross the eastbound lanes and come to rest on the right-hand shoulder embankment. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no reported injuries.
The right lane of Route 101 eastbound was closed for roughly three hours while crews removed the tractor-trailer.
Troopers from the Troop A barracks were assisted by Troop G, as well as the Candia Police and Fire Departments, Raymond Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Alison J. Baumbach at 603-223-4381 or via email at Alison.J.Baumbach@dos.nh.gov
