While this Sunday’s week five matchup between the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints is just another game for most players, for Isaac Yiadom it’s something more.
For Yiadom this will be his first game in his home state of Massachusetts in his six year career.
Yiadom is the son of Ghanaian immigrants and a native of Worcester, Massachusetts who graduated from Doherty Memorial High School before attending Boston College. Yiadom after his time in Massachusetts was drafted 99th overall to the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Yiadom in his six years has played in 70 career games with 20 career starts. Those games have been played with five teams, the Denver Broncos (2018-19), New York Giants (2020), the Green Bay Packers (2021), Houston Texans (2022), and New Orleans Saints (2022-2023).
Yiadom over the years with those teams has career totals of 107 tackles with 76 of them being solo tackles, one split sack, one interception, 12 passes defensed, one forced fumble, and 17 special teams stops.
This past season Yiadom played in three games for the Texans before being traded to the Saints where he played in six contests last season. Yiadom then re-signed with the Saints on a one year deal and has played in all four games thus far this season.
Yiadom played four years at Boston College (2014-17) appearing in 48 games during his tenure with the Boston College Eagles. Yiadom in his senior season started in all 13 games tallying 53 tackles, 36 solo tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defensed. Yiadom in his senior year was selected to the Senior Bowl.
While at Doherty Memorial High School, Yiadom was part of a 2013 Highlanders team that won a Division 4 State Championship. Yiadom helped lead the Highlanders to their first Central Massachusetts state championship in over three decades.
That State Championship game was in Gillette Stadium where Yiadom will be this Sunday when the Saints and Patriots face off with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM EST.
