The WooSox season might be over but the fun at Polar Park, that will never end. WooSox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg in a statement Friday said, “As we begin to demonstrate the year-round uses of Polar Park for the community, we celebrate the month of pumpkins, the month of October Baseball, and the month that culminates with the World Series, followed by one of the sweetest days of the year for children, Halloween,”
So the fun at Polar Park just keeps on rolling and that fun includes the WooSox’ Inaugural “Polar Park Pumpkin Patch.”
It will start on Saturday, October 9, at 10 a.m. The WooSox say that fans can bring decorated pumpkins to the ballpark. They will be displayed on the “8th Hill” beneath the Left Field Videoboard.
On Halloween, Sunday, October 31, at 5 p.m., as part of the WooSox’ Inaugural “Trick or Treat at Polar Park,” the WooSox will present prizes to award winners.
Now here’s the twist to decorating your pumpkins, the WooSox are encouraging fans to decorate their pumpkins in baseball style, including Polar Park, the WooSox, and mascots Smiley Ball and Woofster the WonderDog.
The WooSox say that “fans who decorate their pumpkins in tribute to the Major League Baseball team that wins the World Series will receive special prizes.”
said WooSox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. “We hope that families can enjoy the decoration time and imagination time at home, and then proudly place their pumpkins on ‘The 8th Hill’ beyond our beautiful Berm on Plymouth Street. It’s just a simple, fun way for Polar Park to serve as a community gathering spot.
“We will collectively watch as postseason unfolds to see which teams turn into a pumpkin. Obviously, there won’t be too many ‘pinstriped pumpkins’ submitted this year.”
You can drop off your decorated pumpkin at the WooSox Team Store at Gate D on Madison Street starting at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
Each day thereafter, WooSox Ambassadors, who conduct daily tours of the ballpark, will place the pumpkins on “The 8th Hill” beneath the left-field videoboard.
