Broken Record: Celtics Lose Home Game To The Heat 111-101

By Darryl Harding Sr –

On Sunday, in the first playoff game against the Heat, the Celtics broke a record for most three-pointers made during a playoff game. Unfortunately, the Heat broke that record in Game 2. Hitting 23 three-pointers, the Heat outscored the Celtics by 33 points from the three-point line.

No one expected the Celtics to win every single playoff game, but a home playoff loss to the Heat is like pouring salt in an open wound. Considering last year’s Eastern Conference Finals game 7 was exactly that,  a loss in the TD Garden to the Miami Heat.

What makes it even worse is that the Heat were without Jimmy “Buckets” Butler, Who was their leading scorer throughout the season. The Celtics did not fair too well, although Jason Tatum had 28 points, and Jaylen Brown 33 Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday were relegated to single figures.

While contributing heavily throughout the season, from the bench, Sam Houser. Peyton Pritchard and Al Horford all combined for only 12 points. After a stellar season and staunchly and stoutly protecting home court, it was sad to see the Celtics fall into their old ways of losing home games in the playoffs as they did last year.

There is no need to panic. The Celtics  possess all the weapons necessary to go all the way. The only thing standing in the Celtics way is the Celtics. Granted, no  Celtics fans are jumping off the bandwagon, but it does leave a sour taste in their mouths reminiscent of last year’s anti-climactic finish.

Celtics head to Miami for Game 3 against the Miami Heat on Saturday. As long as the Celtics handle their business  they should be able to steal at least one back in Florida.
