The Boston Red Sox made some roster changes in their line-up. On Wednesday, they placed right-handed pitcher Garrett Whitlock on the 15-Day Injured List due to a left oblique strain. To fill Whitlock’s spot on the active roster, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Joe Jacques from Triple-A Worcester.
The following day, Thursday the team announced that outfielder Tyler O’Neill had been moved to the 7-Day Injured List, retroactive to April 16. To replace O’Neill, the club reinstated outfielder Rob Refsnyder from the 10-Day Injured List.
Also on Thursday, the Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez from the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for cash considerations. Gutierrez was immediately optioned to Triple-A Worcester. To create space on the 40-man roster, the Sox transferred shortstop Trevor Story to the 60-Day Injured List.
The day, however, did not end on a high note for the Sox, as they finished their season-long ten-game homestand with a 3-7 record after losing, 5-4 against the Guardians.
