The Holy Cross women’s basketball team took on Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Albany, NY on Saturday. The Patriot League champions won their First Four game to advance to the Round of 64.

The Crusaders kept it close through the first quarter, only trailing by two with the score 23-21 after the first 10 minutes. Iowa exploded in the second quarter, however, outscoring Holy Cross 25-9 to blow the game open.

The Crusaders once again kept it close in the third and fourth quarters, only being outscored 23-20 and 20-15 respectively in those quarters. It was that second quarter that did them in, however, and Iowa would go on to win by a final score of 91-65.

Clark scored 27 points for the Hawkeyes, shooting 8 of 19 from the floor, 3 of 9 from three and 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Bronagh Power-Cassidy led the Crusaders with 19 points, shooting 6 of 14 from the field and 4 of 10 from three.

Holy Cross finishes their season with a 21-13 record, a Patriot League title and a 16th ranking in the Top 25.
