RUTLAND, Mass. — What started as a resident spotting a suspicious man near a parked car quickly unraveled into a multi-charge arrest involving a stolen vehicle, drugs, a suspended license and an outstanding warrant.
Police in Rutland say the incident began at 10:54 a.m. when a resident reported seeing a man attempting to break into her vehicle near East County Road and Wachusett Street.
Officers rushed to the area and located 38-year-old Alex Jusino of Worcester.
What officers uncovered during their encounter escalated the situation quickly.
Investigators determined Jusino had traveled to the neighborhood in a stolen vehicle. Officers also learned his license was suspended and that he was carrying fentanyl and crack cocaine. Authorities further discovered he had an outstanding warrant for assault and battery on a correctional employee.
Jusino was arrested on the spot.
Police also worked with the Worcester Police Department to ensure the stolen vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
Jusino now faces a long list of charges including felony breaking and entering of a vehicle in the daytime for a felony, felony receiving stolen property over $1,200, felony receiving a stolen motor vehicle, disguise to obstruct justice, possession of a Class B drug subsequent offense, possession of a Class A drug, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
He was arraigned March 12 in East Brookfield District Court before Maura K. McCarthy.
Jusino entered pleas of not guilty on all charges.
Judge McCarthy set bail at $10,000 surety or $1,000 cash.
Authorities say Jusino did not post bail and was ordered committed to the Worcester County House of Correction while the case moves forward.
He is scheduled to return to court April 8 for a pretrial hearing.
But the legal trouble doesn’t stop there.
In addition to the Rutland case, Jusino also had an outstanding warrant out of Lowell District Court connected to a September 24, 2025 charge of felony assault and battery on a correctional facility employee.
Judge McCarthy ordered Jusino transported to Lowell District Court on Friday to face that case as well.
What began with a vigilant resident spotting a suspicious man near a vehicle ended with an arrest that investigators say uncovered a trail of stolen property, narcotics and an active felony warrant — a case now moving through multiple Massachusetts courts.
