Millbury, MA – Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Millbury Police Department responded to a shoplifting incident at The Shops at Blackstone Valley that escalated into a multi-jurisdictional vehicle pursuit. The incident began around 4 PM, when the suspect reportedly drove toward a Millbury Police cruiser, creating a dangerous situation for officers and the public.
The pursuit continued through Worcester and Shrewsbury before Millbury ended their involvement on Route 9 in Shrewsbury due to safety concerns after the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic. Massachusetts State Police continued to follow the vehicle onto I-290 before terminating their pursuit near the Route 85 exit.
The chase concluded in Marlborough when the vehicle crashed. Officers from the Marlborough Police Department took Lisa French and Melissa Cornaglia, of Hartford, Ct, into custody. The pair faces multiple charges in Millbury.
Police agencies involved praised the coordinated response and emphasized that the public and officer safety remains the top priority during fast-moving incidents.
