Peru, N.Y – On February 14, 2026, 26-year-old Kohen Laware, of Plattsburg in Clinton County, was arrested by New York State Police and charged with the following:

  • Criminal Mischief
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Aggravated Family Offense

At approximately 1614 hours, State Police were notified of a domestic dispute at a residence on Telegraph Road in the Town of Peru. Investigators determined that Mr. Laware and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation. Laware became increasingly irate and damaged the door handle of the victim’s vehicle. The victim was able to leave the scene safely.

Mr. Laware was located by troopers. In an attempt to place Laware under arrest, he fled on foot. Multiple verbal commands for him to stop, warning that a Taser would be deployed if he did not comply. Subsequently, a trooper activated a taser, and Laware was taken into custody.

He was transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing and arraigned in the Town of Peru Court and released under the supervision of probation.

This remains an active investigation.

Mr. Laware is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
