PLAINFIELD, Vt. — A masked man walks into a neighborhood convenience store late at night. He doesn’t browse. He doesn’t hesitate. Police say he demands the register be opened — and then vanishes into the dark with stolen merchandise.

Now the Vermont State Police are hunting for him.
