WASHINGTON, Vt. — A domestic dispute call. Troopers rush in. And a 22-year-old man now faces a serious felony charge.
On February 11, 2026, at approximately 1742 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the town of Washington.
When they arrived, they made contact with everyone involved and launched an on-scene investigation.
What they say they uncovered is alarming.
The investigation determined that David Henault (22), had committed the offense of First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault.
First Degree. Aggravated. Domestic Assault.
That is not a minor charge. That is one of the most serious domestic violence offenses on the books.
And it didn’t end there.
While attempting to take Henault into custody he resisted arrest.
Troopers say as they moved in to make the arrest, Henault fought back. Resisting arrest only compounds the situation, escalating an already volatile scene.
He was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing and was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Orange County Criminal Division on February 12, 2026, at 12:30 PM.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim. The Vermont State Police does not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.
Henault, 22, of Washington, Vermont, was scheduled to face a judge at 12:30 PM on February 12, 2026, in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
A domestic dispute. A felony assault charge. Resistance during arrest. And now, a court date that could determine what happens next.
