SALEM, Mass. — Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver accused of striking a police officer in Salem on Thursday night.
According to Salem police, one of their officers was struck by a vehicle while conducting a criminal investigation on Pope Street around 8:30 p.m. The vehicle fled the scene.
Officials said the officer, a female, was conscious and alert after being hit and was transported to Salem Hospital to be evaluated and treated. Her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
Massachusetts State Police said they were assisting in the search for the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
No further information was immediately available.
