Wallace-Gomes appeared before Judge David Weingarten for an initial appearance and arraignment. A plea of not guilty was entered on all charges, and Wallace-Gomes was ordered committed without bail to the Suffolk County Jail pending a final dangerousness hearing.

On March 14, 2024, officers of the Boston Police Department were on patrol in the vicinity of Columbia Road and Quincy Street when they spotted a Jeep Wrangler speeding, turning left onto Bird Street. The officers pulled over the vehicle at the intersection of Bird Street and Virginia Street and approached the driver, Nathaniel Wallace-Gomes, 24, of 59 Myrtle St. Somerville, Massachusetts. One of the officers asked for Wallace-Gomes’ license and registration, but Wallace-Gomes looked around aimlessly before suddenly fleeing at a high speed. Prior to the chase, both officers saw Wallace-Gomes wearing a green puffy winter coat with burgundy and beige designs.

The officers immediately returned to their vehicle and followed Wallace-Gomes down Bird Street, turning left onto Bodwell Street and then right onto Baker Ave. During the pursuit, Wallace-Gomes drove recklessly, making it difficult for the officers to keep sight of him. However, they eventually found his vehicle unoccupied, still running, and not properly parked at 16 Baker Ave. The officers informed Boston Police Operations of their location and requested additional units to respond. They then searched the area while canvassing for Wallace-Gomes.

Additional units, including officers from B-2, C-11, K9, and the Youth Violence Strike Force, responded to assist the two officers in canvassing the areas of Baker Ave., Drayton Ave., Bodwell Street, Cedar Place, Glendale Street, and Bird Street for Wallace-Gomes. Eventually, two Boston Police Officers and two Massachusetts State Police Troopers located and stopped an individual matching Wallace-Gomes’ description on Cedar Place. He was wearing only a white tank-top when taken into custody.

After performing a lawful arrest, the officers searched Wallace-Gomes and transported him to District B-2. While canvassing the area, an officer found the green puffy winter coat that Wallace-Gomes had been wearing earlier, discarded underneath a parked vehicle on the street at 21 Baker Ave. A K9 sniffed the jacket and made a positive hit, but further search of the jacket produced no evidence.

While a sergeant was canvassing the area, they located a black Diamond Back Firearm loaded and a plastic bag containing numerous small plastic bags, which they recognized as narcotics from their training and experience The location of these items was approximately 30 feet from where Wallace-Gomes’ vehicle was located.

Upon questioning Wallace-Gomes at B-2, an officer asked for his license to carry a firearm, but he said “No.” A CJIS inquiry revealed that Wallace-Gomes did not have an active LTC in Massachusetts.
