On the road again and it may seem like it’s been a while, because it has been a while. The last time the Worcester Red Sox played a road game was Sunday June 12, against the Buffalo Bisons. Tuesday night the Worcester Red Sox, who have won six of their last seven, kicked off a six-game set against the Rochester Red Wings and secured a 4-2 win.
This game opened up wide at the top of the first with Worcester’s Ronaldo Hernandez hitting a single to help drive in Connor Wong and Ryan Fitzgerald giving Worcester an early 2-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, Worcester extended their lead to 3-0 with Ronaldo Hernandez hitting his second single of the game to help get Christin Stewart over the plate. Nick Banks got over the plate for Rochester at the bottom of the fourth and then at the bottom of the sixth Jake Noll hit his sixth dinger of the season to make this a 3-2 Worcester game. You can’t go wrong with Connor Wong who at the top of the eighth hit his eleventh double of the season to help drive in Pedro Castellanos and put Worcester on top 4-2.
The Worcester Red Sox with Tuesday night’s win have now won five on the road for June and have won six of their last seven. Worcester and Rochester will do it all over again on Wednesday night.
