On Tuesday, August 26, an officers with the Barnstable Police Department responded to South County Road and Falmouth Road Rt 28 for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The person who reported the MVA to Barnstable Police stated that they had seen two males outside of the vehicle but then they fled the area Southbound on South County.
Upon arrival at County Road and Falmouth Road Rt 28, an officer observed the vehicle that had been involved in the MVA and no one was with the vehicle. Buckler’s Towing also responded to tow the vehicle. Prior to being towed the vehicle had been searched by officers and there was information found in the vehicle with the name Anthony Kelley.
An officer who was nearby observed another vehicle driving around the area as if they were scanning the area. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was identified by police. The driver informed police that her friend had called her to pick him up on Smoke Valley Road. She had also informed police that her friend was involved in the MVA.
Officers followed the female to a location where the male was at and they made contact with him. The male told the officers that he was not driving the vehicle and that there were two other males in the vehicle but he did not know their names. The male was uncooperative and refused to give any information to the officers.
Other officers had located Anthony Kelley at 1340 Main Street where he had been arrested after officers found a white substance on him. That white substance had been field tested using trunarc which confirmed that the white substance was cocaine. The cocaine was placed on a scale and it weighed 26 grams.
Kelley was charged with leaving the scene of accident with property damage and cocaine, trafficking in 18 grams or more, less than 36 grams.
