BOSTON — A late-night response by the Youth Violence Strike Force led to the arrest of an armed suspect in Roxbury after officers received a report of a person carrying a firearm.

According to police, at approximately 10:41 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, officers were dispatched to the area of 68 Warren Street following a call for a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided responding units with a description of the suspect, noting that a firearm had been observed.

While canvassing the area, officers located an individual matching the description inside the building at 68 Warren Street. Police observed the male seated at a table with a female.

As officers approached and attempted to investigate, the suspect was instructed to stand. He initially refused and became confrontational. After multiple commands, the suspect complied, and officers conducted a pat frisk.

During the frisk, officers recovered a firearm concealed beneath multiple layers of clothing near the suspect’s right armpit. The weapon was later identified as a Jimenez 9mm handgun, loaded with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine.

Following the arrest, officers searched and also recovered a plastic bag containing suspected crack cocaine.

The suspect, Kyle Hicks, 34, of Jamaica Plain, was taken into custody without further incident.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on multiple charges, including:

  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Possession of a large capacity firearm
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • Possession of a Class B substance

Police say the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Youth Violence Strike Force to reduce gun violence and improve safety in Boston neighborhoods.

Authorities continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity as proactive policing remains a key tool in preventing violent crime.
