Framingham – A former physician who practiced in Framingham has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple sexual assault charges involving former patients, according to prosecutors.

Marian Ryan announced that Derrick Todd, 52, of Wayland, faces three counts of rape and seventeen counts of indecent assault and battery. The charges involve allegations from eleven adult female patients and stem from incidents that prosecutors say occurred between 2021 and 2023.

Authorities allege the defendant assaulted patients while working as both a rheumatologist and primary care physician at Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham.

According to investigators, the alleged conduct included performing unnecessary and prolonged examinations, as well as procedures outside the scope of accepted medical practice. Prosecutors also allege that some of the incidents occurred under the appearance of legitimate treatment, including procedures the defendant was not qualified to perform.

The alleged victims range in age from approximately 20 to 60 years old.

In a statement, the district attorney said the allegations indicate a breach of trust, with a medical professional accused of taking advantage of patients in a clinical setting.

The defendant is expected to be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court.

The case is being investigated by the Framingham Police Department along with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors noted that these are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Officials also confirmed that the defendant had previously been charged in a separate case in 2025 involving additional allegations of sexual assault during medical visits. That matter is also pending in Middlesex Superior Court.
