Tewksbury, Mass. — A deadly head-on crash Sunday night claimed one life and left another injured, as authorities scramble to piece together exactly what happened.
Police say officers responded around 6:48 p.m. to Andover Street near Cooney Road, finding two vehicles had violently collided. Both drivers were treated at the scene and rushed to local hospitals, but one later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Officials initially described the situation as a serious motor vehicle accident, warning drivers to avoid the area while emergency crews worked. Traffic was diverted from Hood Road to River Road as investigators began their painstaking work.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing, led by the Tewksbury Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the search for answers continues.
