New York – Darin R. Collins, 46, of Winthrop, St. Lawrence County, was arrested by New York State Police on Feb. 20, on charges of Grand Larceny in the third degree, involving property valued at over $3,000.

On Oct. 9, 2025, troopers responded to an incident at 6:44 p.m. at a worksite on County Route 48 in Stockholm. After an investigation, troopers reported that a Komatsu Excavator had been stolen. The excavator, which was equipped with a GPS tracking system, initially provided the location before losing connection later that evening.

The excavator was later discovered by troopers on the Canadian side of the Akwesasne Indian Reservation and coordinated with Tribal Police as part of the investigation. An inquiry determined that Collins had stolen the excavator and left it in Snye, Quebec.

An arrest warrant was issued for Collins. He was later located, taken into custody, and transported to SP Massena for processing. Collins was arraigned in the Town of Louisville Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
