
NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said transit services across the region will run on special schedules Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with changes affecting subways, buses and commuter rail lines.
All New York City subway lines and the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Saturday schedule. The MTA said several subway lines will have planned service changes, and riders are urged to check the MTA app or mta.info/alerts before traveling.
City buses will run on a modified weekday schedule, with special schedules in effect for some express bus routes.
Access-A-Ride paratransit service will operate on a full 24/7 schedule throughout the day.
On the Long Island Rail Road, trains will run on a regular weekday schedule, with off-peak fares in effect all day.
Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines will operate on a Saturday schedule with additional rush-hour trains added. On the Port Jervis Line, Metro-North will run a weekend schedule with three extra trains: two inbound trains departing Port Jervis at 6:18 a.m. and 4:05 p.m., arriving in Hoboken at 8:30 a.m. and 6:24 p.m., and one outbound train departing Hoboken at 5:19 p.m. The Pascack Valley Line will also operate on a weekend schedule.
The Hudson Rail Link and the Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry will run on special schedules, which are available on mta.info and the TrainTime app.
MTA Bridges and Tunnels will operate with normal weekday lane closures.
The agency urged customers to stay informed by checking mta.info for real-time arrivals and service changes, using the MTA app for train, bus and rail information, or the TrainTime app for commuter rail trips. Riders can also sign up for email and text alerts or call 511 for service information, with 711 relay service available for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
