No More Terrible Twos: Celtics Win Game 2

By Darryl Harding Sr –

Before the game, if somebody would have told me that all of the Dallas starters were in double figures and Luka Doncic had a triple double, with 32 Points 11 assists and 11 rebounds, I would have thought that the Celtics lost the game.

Jad they said that Jason Tatum only scored 18 points and the Celtic shot 25.6% from a 3-point line, I would have thought that the Celtics lost the game.

Considering that the Celtics were out rebounded and outscored in the paint, one would assume that the Celtics lost the game.

Poor shooting and certain star players lacking offense, one would believe that the Celtics lost home  court advantage and we’re headed back to Dallas for Game 3 under the gun, but this is not the case.

The Celtics managed to win game 2, keep home court advantage and are now two games away from hanging Banner 18 in the TD Garden rafters. One thing about this Celtics team is that you never know who is going to shine.

It can come from any place, from any player and the Celtics have proven that shutting down one or two player still can result in an L overall. Defense definitely wins championships and the Celtics managed to keep the Mavericks under 100 points for the total of the game winning 105-98.

Holding Dallas to under 25 points in three of the four quarters, the Celtics  paralyzing defense kept a motivated Dallas team at bay. Even though he only scored 18 points, Jason Tatum was one rebound away from a triple double with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists.

His lack of offensive production didn’t pose a problem due to the awesome output, and Celtics game high 26 points and 11 rebounds from Jrue Holiday, again accentuating the fact that any Celtic, on any given night, can go off.

“That’s why they are the #1 team in the NBA with the #1 record,” said Luka Doncic in the post game interview, “they have a lot of great players… anybody can get off .”

Celtics now travel to Dallas for game 3 which will be played Wednesday at 8:30 as the quest for Banner 18 continues.
