The Boston Celtics were on the road Saturday night, playing at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. Playing against the Hornets for their 44th game of the season, their 22nd on the road and C’s rolled over the Hornets 122-106.
The last time the Celtics and Hornets met was back on November 28, 2022 and the Celtics had a 35-point win over Charlotte, 140-105, which was the largest margin of victory over the Hornets in franchise history. The Celtic’s knocked down 10 three-pointers in the first quarter to gain a 45-19 advantage, marking the most three-points made in any quarter in Celtics history. Tatum led all scorers with 35 points, and Smart added 22 points and a career-high 15 assists. Brogdon contributed 21 points, five rebounds and six assists off the bench. The Hornets were led by Jalen McDaniels’ career-high 24 points.
Tonight, Tatum and Brogdon did the bulk of the hard work for the Celtics. Tatum played thirty-seven minutes, had thirty-three points, six assists and nine rebounds. Brogdon played thirty-one minutes, had thirty points, three assists and two rebounds.
Horford played thirty-three minutes, had sixteen points, six assists and eight rebounds while Smart played thirty-six minutes, had thirteen points, twelve assists and two rebounds.
Al Horford on what turned the night around for Boston said, “I felt like they were playing at a different level than we were, and we had to kind of match that intensity, and for us, it started with Rob (Williams) and his energy.”
With Saturday night’s win the C’s now carry six straight wins, and they’ll look to get their seventh straight win when they play the Hornets again Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM, again at the Spectrum Center.
