The Boston University men’s basketball team hosted Army at the Aggasnis Arena in Boston on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers were looking to snap their two-game losing streak and get back to .500 as they say at a 9-9 record entering this game. Army came winning three of their first four in 2023.
The Black Knights started off the game on a 7-0 run and led 17-6 at the 13:54 mark of the first half before BU called the first timeout of the game.
After trailing 20-11, the Terriers went on an 8-0 run that included back-to-back threes from Walter Whyte and Caelan Jones to make it a 20-19 game with 9:20 left in the first half.
The Black Knights would go on to hold a six point lead twice with BU coming back from down 25-19 to tie the game. Army would then have an eight-point lead at 39-31 and would lead 39-33 at halftime.
They would hold an eight-point lead at the 16:05 mark in the game as they lead 53-45. That would be their biggest lead as the Terriers would keep it close for the rest of the way, but Army would never let up. They would go on to win by a final score of 83-74.
Both teams shot well from the floor as Army shot 60.4 percent from the paint and BU shot 52.9 percent.
Guard Jalen Rucker led the Black Knights with 29 points on nine of 14 shooting, including four of six from three. Whyte led the Terriers with 16 points, but only shot 50 percent from the floor.
BU’s next game will be played on Wednesday as they travel to take on Navy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
