Fitchburg State University Football Player Killed In Tulsa, Oklahoma

In Tulsa, Oklahoma police are investigating the fatal shooting of Fitchburg State University football player, Desmond Clayton.

Clayton was at a house party on Friday night when just after 10 p.m., he was shot multiple times. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Fitchburg State University on Sunday confirmed that Clayton was a freshman and a member of the football team.

In a statement posted on the Fitchburg State University website, the University said, “Our campus community mourns the untimely passing of Desmond Clayton, a first-year student and member of our football team. We have been in touch with Desmond’s family to offer our condolences and support during this difficult time, and we ask our entire community to keep his family and friends in their thoughts. The university reminds students that its Counseling Services staff is available to them as they process this tragedy.”

The University also added that Football Coach Scott Sperone said, “Desmond was a confident and outgoing member of the team whose big personality would light up any room.”

In a virtual team meeting on Saturday, Coach Sperone encouraged players of the Fitchburg State University football team, to support one another in these difficult times.
