Spencer Man Indicted On Charges Of Trafficking Heroin/Fentanyl

On Tuesday, October 20, 2020 Maissel Hughes was indicted in Worcester County Superior Court. Hughes is charged with trafficking in 200 grams or more Heroin/Morphine/Opium/Fentanyl and trafficking in more than 10 grams fentanyl.

On Monday March 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Sergeant James Murray of the Spencer Police Department working with members of the DEA and officers of the Spencer Police Department executed a search warrant at 323 Main St. in Spencer.

While approaching the target location officers observed Hughes who was a target of the search warrant, standing outside a vehicle. As officers went to secure Hughes he dropped a plastic bag on the ground. Officers field tested what was in the plastic bag and the test came back positive for heroin/fentanyl. Officers weighed the bag with the heroin/fentanyl and the total weight was 500 grams.

During a search of the residence at 323 Main St. in Spencer, officers and agents recovered personal mail, scales, drug packaging materials, a kilo press and an unknown amount of money.

As officers and agents made entry into the target location they encountered Yakiris Campechano and a minor child.
