Worcester Police Arrest Two Suspects Who Pistol-Whipped A Woman And Robbed A Man At Gunpoint

Early Sunday morning at about 2:45 a.m. Worcester Police responded to an assault on Lafayette Street. When officers arrived in the area they located a women who told them that she had been pistol-whipped by two suspects before they stole her cellphone.

Shortly after, officers responded to a call in the Rice Square area for a person with a gun. When officers arrived they were informed that the victim had been robbed at gunpoint on Grafton Street.

Police say that while the victim on Grafton Street was walking home, an SUV pulled up alongside of the victim. Two males exited the SUV and one of them had a gun.

The men demanded the victims belongings, got back in the SUV and fled the area but an officer on patrol in the Upsala Street area located the SUV and stopped it.

A passenger in the front seat fled but as the officer approached the vehicle two people were in the back seat.

Police have identified the two passengers in the back seat as Wilberto Rivera, 40, of Worcester and Theresa Venuti, 41, of North Oxford. Both were arrested and have been charged with armed robbery.

As for the man in the front passenger seat who fled, police say that they are still looking for him.
